What not to store in a storage unit
Some things are unsafe, some are against the rental agreement, and some just won’t survive. Here’s the short list we go over at the counter.

Your rental agreement has the full list, but these are the questions we answer most often at the office.
Never store these
Gasoline, propane tanks, paint thinner or anything flammable
Food, pet food or anything that attracts pests
Firearms and ammunition
Plants, animals or anything alive
Wet items, including rugs that haven’t fully dried
Think twice about these
Cash, jewelry and irreplaceable documents are safer in a bank or a safe at home. Electronics and photos are fine in a climate-controlled unit, but not in a drive-up unit through a Carolina summer.
Vehicles and equipment
Mowers and small engines are welcome once the fuel tank is empty. Cars, boats and RVs go in a parking space or a drive-up unit, and they need to be registered, insured and in running order.
